Kiera H. Vaughn

Kiera H. Vaughn is a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe and a Chemistry-Health Science major at the University of Central Oklahoma (graduating in 2021). She is spending summer 2019 working in the laboratory of Dr. Bethany Hannafon (Assistant Professor of Research, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Scientific Administrator, Gynecologic Cancers Program, Stephenson Cancer Center, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK) as a participant in the ASIP Summer research Opportunity in Pathology Program (SROPP) and the Native American Research Center for Health (NARCH) summer program. Kiera’s summer research project will involve examination of the effects of a novel chemotherapeutic/chemopreventive agent on exosome and exosome-associated RNA binding protein secretion in breast and ovarian cancer cells.
