Long-time ASIP member, Dr. Xiao-Ming Yin has been named Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine, (New Orleans, LA). Dr. Yin assumed his new position on February 1, 2020. Prior to taking this position at Tulane, Dr. Yin was the Louis Y. Mazzini Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical Pathology and Director of Laboratories for Indiana University Health.
Dr. Yin received his MD from Shanghai Medical School, Fudan University, and his PhD in Immunology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He did both his residency and post-doctoral research fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Yin has published >165 papers, reviews, and book chapters that have been cited >30,000 times. He is internationally renowned for his seminal contributions to the understanding of the mechanisms of autophagy and apoptosis and their significance in pathological conditions. Dr. Yin’s research is funded by the NIDDK/NIH and he has been funded in the past by the NCI/NIH, NIAAA/NIH, the Charlotte Geyer Foundation, the Alfred Sloan Foundation, and other sources.
Dr. Yin has been a member of ASIP since 1999. Dr. Yin previously served as a member of the ASIP Program Committee and is a regular contributor to the scientific program at the ASIP Annual Meeting during Experimental Biology. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for The American Journal of Pathology. In 2017, Dr. Yin received the ASIP Outstanding Investigator Award.
