Dr. Greg Tsongalis directs the Laboratory for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology (CGAT) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The molecular pathologists working in the CGAT have been working in three shifts for the past several months to keep their COVID-19 testing running 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
With their current instrumentation, the laboratory can perform approximately 1500 COVID-19 tests per 24 hour period. These molecular pathologists have also pioneered the use of dry swabs for COVID-19 testing, eliminating the need for certain reagents that are in short supply. The CGAT performs testing for patients at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, as well as testing for the New Hampshire state laboratories. We salute these molecular pathologists fighting COVID-19 for their tireless efforts to ensure fast and accurate testing for their patients.
